For nylig kunne man i Politiken læse overskriften: “Sukker er mere vanedannende end kokain”
Det var en af konklusionerne fra et forskningsprojekt, hvor 96 procent af laboratorierotterne valgte at drikke sukkervand frem for at få kokain intravenøst. Det bekymrer eksperterne. Se artiklen her.
Nogle mennesker kan desuden udvikle overfølsomhed overfor sukker. Den sukker der ”normalt” giver ekstra energi og velvære, begynder i stedet at give udmattelse, angst og andre stress-/depressionslignende symptomer. Når du er overfølsom overfor sukker, vil din krop reagere stærkere end normalt på indtagelse af sukker.

Er du overfølsom overfor sukker?
Man kan ikke gå til lægen og få målt sin overfølsomhed overfor sukker. Diagnosen stilles primært ud fra samtale og et længere spørgeskema. Du kan tage din egen respons på sukkerholdige varer som pejlemærke for, om du mon er i risikogruppen. Forestil dig, at du kommer hjem og hele huset dufter af småkager. I køkkenet står der flere plader med duftende, lune, nybagte chokolade småkager. Du ved, at ingen vil bemærke, hvis der ”forsvinder” en plade. Hvad gør du? Vælger en af de små deforme, som du knækker over og langsomt nyder den ene halvdel? Eller føler du et dejligt gys langs rygraden, snupper den største og nyder følelsen af at lade den fylde hele munden? Efterfulgt af en håndfuld flere kager?
Måske smiler du lidt skævt lige nu, og hvis du gør, så er det måske, fordi du hører til den sidste kategori – til de der er overfølsomme overfor sukker. De der ikke er overfølsomme overfor sukker, vil ikke reagere med mange følelser overfor sukkerholdige varer, og impulskontrollen i den beskrevne situation vil være god. Modsat for sukkeroverfølsomme mennesker. Jo større trang du har til søde sager, jo større er risikoen for at du er sukkeroverfølsom.
Og hvad kan man så gøre, hvis man er sukkeroverfølsom?
For det første, så vid, at din krops og hjernes reaktioner, er bygget på nedarvede systemer. Det er altså ikke er noget, du selv har fremprovokeret. Det er nu engang sådan din fysik er skruet sammen, og det kan ikke betale sig at banke nogen oven i hovedet for det. Men, du kan selv afhjælpe symptomerne gennem din kost. Ved en kostomlægning gennem nogle måneder vil du få din krop og hjerne i ro, og der skal derefter mere til at udløse en sukkerrespons, end der skal nu. Jeg vil ikke her give de specielle kostråd, fordi de ikke kan stå alene, men kræver opbakning og støtte fra en behandler. Til gengæld er du velkommen til at henvende dig, hvis du ønsker konkret hjælp til behandling af din sukkeroverfølsomhed.
Efter mange måneders kostomlægning, der tilgodeser min sukkeroverfølsomhed, kan jeg rapportere, at det godt kan lade sig gøre. Man kan sagtens spise på en måde, der ikke provokerer en sukkerrespons. Og man kan også spise lækre ting. Er det helt så sjovt som et småkageorgie. Nej, måske ikke helt. Til gengæld vil du opleve, at du igen bliver klar i hovedet og slipper for den evige stemme i baghovedet, der opremser, hvilke lækkerier der forefindes i dit køkken, i din bil eller i supermarkedet, som du absolut bliver nødt til at have fat i. Og, du slipper for den evige dårlige samvittighed over igen at have spist noget, som du godt selv vidste, at du havde haft det bedre uden.
